We know that you’ll probably have a few questions before heading to our outpost, so here are the top 4 things to know about rafting in the Smoky Mountains with us:
1. Types of Trips Available
Whether you’re interested in a scenic float trip down the river or a thrilling whitewater rapids adventure, we have just the trip for you! Our Upper River Rafting Trip offers the classic white water rafting experience, complete with soaking rapids, big drops, and plenty of surfing! On this trip, you’ll encounter about 70 rapids that range from class I to class IV! If you prefer something a bit calmer, consider our Lower River Rafting Trip which is perfect for families! We also offer Upper/Lower combo trips, as well as Extreme Upper River Rafting Trips for adrenaline junkies!
2. Who Can Join the Fun
You’ll be delighted to know that family members of all ages are welcome to join our trips! In fact, children only have to be at least 3 years old to go on the Lower River Rafting Trip! The minimum age/weight requirement for the Upper River Rafting trip is 8 years old or 70 pounds. Just keep in mind that our life jackets can accommodate a chest girth of 54 inches, and you can try one of these on at our Gatlinburg office prior to making your reservation!
3. What to Wear on Your Trip
Another one of the top things to know about rafting in the Smoky Mountains with us is what to wear white water rafting! Since our season runs from March to October, your clothing really depends on the date of your visit! If you’re planning to go rafting during the cooler months, you’ll want to wear synthetic, quick-drying layers and avoid cotton. You can also wear wool or fleece socks to keep you warm. In the summer months, you should wear shorts as well as a bathing suit or T-shirt. Note that secure shoes with a heel strap are required on all of our trips!
4. Safety Information
If you feel a little nervous about rafting in the Smoky Mountains, rest assured that you are always in good hands with our professional guides! All trips are fully guided by an experienced guide who is dedicated to keeping your adventure safe and enjoyable! Don’t know how to swim? No worries! Every guest is issued a type 5, Coast Guard approved personal flotation device that is designed to give you all of the flotation needed on the river.
