4 Reasons White Water Rafting is a Highlight of Any Trip to the Smoky Mountains
Take your vacation to the Smoky Mountains to the next level with a white water rafting adventure! While the Smokies offer plenty of natural wonders and manmade attractions, there is nothing quite like the thrills of paddling down the rapids of the Pigeon River with your family and friends! Here are the top 4 reasons why white water rafting is a highlight of any trip to the Smoky Mountains:
1. Action-Packed Fun for All Ages
Our white water rafting trips offer action-packed fun for all ages, and anyone age 3 and older can participate in the adventure! The only restrictions are that the minimum age/weight for the Upper Pigeon trip is 8 years old or 70 pounds, while children must be at least 3 years old to go on the Lower Pigeon trip. Our spring and fall trips are some of the best of the year, as they are unpredictable and based on the natural flow of the river. Therefore, you can experience everything from class III and IV rapids to a leisurely trip down the river! Our most popular trip, the Upper River rafting trip, is available from March through October and features a 6.5 mile journey through class 3 and 4 rapids!
2. Better Than Any Thrill Ride
While visiting the Smoky Mountains, you may have experienced mountain coasters, zip lines, roller coasters and other amusement park types of rides. However, there is nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of running the rapids of the Pigeon River with our professional guides! During your journey, our guides will navigate your entire trip as you splash through big waves, maneuver around rocks and enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors! No two trips are ever the same, so it’s no wonder why we see so many repeat guests year after year!
3. No Special Skills are Required
Another top reason why white water rafting is a highlight of any trip to the Smoky Mountains is because no special skills are required! You don’t even have to know how to swim, as every guest is issued a type 5, Coast Guard approved life jacket that is designed to give you all of the flotation needed on the river. You also don’t have to worry about being in perfect shape, as there are no upper limit weight requirements and our life jackets can accommodate a chest girth of 54 inches!
4. Available in Any Weather Conditions
When planning to go white water rafting in the Smoky Mountains, you never have to worry about a little rain spoiling your fun! Rainy days can be some of the best times to experience the Pigeon RIver as getting soaking wet is all part of the fun! We may delay a trip for a few minutes to let a strong storm pass, but otherwise it’s business as usual on the river! If you are visiting us during the summer months, white water rafting is an excellent option for cooling off on a warm afternoon! However, we run trips in cooler weather too, so just remember to dress appropriately!
