1. Check out Bootleggers Distillery
Located just over a mile from our outpost, Bootleggers Distillery is one of the best family-owned distilleries in the South. They focus on making sure the quality of their products is the top priority. Although they are a small, family run business, they take pride in doing things the right way. That is why they are one of the few distilleries you will find that distills every drop of alcohol they sell. This attention to detail ranges back across generations of family members that came before them. When you enter the store, you will be greeted by people who are between 14th and 16th generation distillers! Because the family business has been passed down for so many years, each new owner and all the employees have the same amazing knowledge of the products. So if you have any questions about the distilling process or the alcohol they sell, the trained professionals will have the answer for you!
2. Camping at Pigeon River Campground
If you are worn out after a busy day of rafting on the Pigeon River, you can relax by the fire at Pigeon River Campground. There is no reason to worry about driving back home or to a hotel when there is a brilliant campground just 0.3 miles away! The campground offers three different ways to enjoy a peaceful vacation! If you own an RV, they have 12 different sites to choose from. Each of them have water and sewer hook ups and feature a fire ring and a picnic table! If you are looking to be a little more up close with nature, you can try out one of their 20 tent sites. Each tent pad is 12’ by 12’ and they have group sites available if you are camping with friends and family! The final option is to rent one of their beautiful camping cabins! Each one can sleep up to five guests and feature great amenities, such as an indoor table and chairs, charcoal grill, and air conditioning. After a busy day of rafting, head over to Pigeon River Campground to refuel so you can see all the fun things to do in Hartford TN!
3. Visit the Tennessee Welcome Center
Because Hartford Tennessee is the easternmost town along Interstate 40, it is home to the Tennessee Welcome Center. There are some very interesting things to browse through while you are there. First of all, there are a ton of history exhibits to look at. This is where you will find some of the interesting facts about the area, as well as about some of the early settlers who made Tennessee what it is today. One of the interesting facts is that the Welcome Center is located on land that was once a part of the Cherokee National Forest!
