The Perfect Weekend Itinerary at Our Smoky Mountain Rafting Outpost

When it comes to the ultimate weekend getaway to the Smokies, don’t miss the chance to combine our white water rafting adventures with some of the other fun activities in the area! Our rafting outpost is situated in a beautiful location along the Pigeon River with a convenient campground right next door, and we’re just a short drive from all the action of Gatlinburg and Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Here is the perfect weekend itinerary when visiting our Smoky Mountain rafting outpost:

1. Experience the Thrills of White Water Rafting

group of people raftingYour perfect weekend in the Smoky Mountains starts with one of our thrilling whitewater rafting adventures on the Pigeon River! Our most popular excursion is the Upper River Trip, where you’ll experience a breathtaking 6.5 mile ride through class III and IV rapids! As our certified guides navigate your trip, you’ll splash through big waves, maneuver around rocks and enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors! If you’re looking for something a bit calmer, consider our Lower River Trip that is fun for family members of all ages! This 5.5 mile trip takes you on a journey through the scenic Pigeon River gorge, and guests only have to be at least 3 years old!

2. Camp Under the Stars at the Pigeon River Campground

Make the most of your weekend in the Smokies by camping under the stars at the Pigeon River Campground! This lovely campground is directly next door to our Smoky Mountain rafting outpost and offers a variety of wonderful campsites to meet your needs, including tent sites, RV sites and camping cabins! While staying at the Pigeon River Campground, you’ll love all of the fun and convenient amenities, including a refreshing outdoor swimming pool, laundry room, river access and a camp store. The campground also offers recreational amenities such as a jumping pillow, volleyball, horseshoes and cornhole, so be sure to make your reservation soon!

3. Take a Scenic Drive to Gatlinburg

gatlinburgOur Smoky Mountain rafting outpost offers the closest white water rafting to Gatlinburg, so take a scenic 45-minute drive to this iconic town to spend the day! Gatlinburg offers a wide variety of family-friendly attractions, including amusement parks, mountain coasters, miniature golf courses, arcades and more! You’ll also find plenty of unique shopping opportunities to stock up on souvenirs, as well as lots of great places to eat! If you’ve ever heard that half the fun is getting there, this is definitely true with your drive to Gatlinburg from our rafting outpost! You’ll be traveling along Highway 321, a gorgeous drive with an endless assortment of natural wonders!

4. Explore Great Smoky Mountains National Park

While visiting Gatlinburg, don’t miss the chance to explore at least one of the hiking trails at Great Smoky Mountains National Park! There are 150 official trails within the park, which offer everything from natural beauty and wildlife sightings to fascinating historical structures from the original settlers in the area! While the Gatlinburg entrance is the busiest entrance into the park, you can also access the park via the Greenbrier entrance on Highway 321 for less crowds! For national park entrances closest to our outpost, use the Big Creek or Cosby entrances.
