5 Things That Might Surprise You About Our Smoky Mountain Rafting Trips

December 27, 2023

When it comes to our white water rafting trips in the Smoky Mountains, there are a few things that some folks may consider surprising! Whether it’s the fact that kids are welcome on our trips or that we raft rain or shine, you’ll be excited to discover some of the interesting tidbits about our rafting adventures! Here are 5 things that might surprise you about our Smoky Mountain rafting trips:

1. We’ve Been in Operation for Over 30 Years

You might say that we’re not exactly the new kids on the block – we’ve been setting the bar high for whitewater rafting service, safety and fun since 1993! We have an excellent safety record and look forward to providing you with a memorable trip down the Pigeon River with your family and friends! All of our trips are fully guided with professionals who are dedicated to making sure you have a great time, so don’t hesitate to join us this upcoming season!<–!more>

2. Children Can Join in the Fun

In fact, children only have to be 3 years old and up to join us on our Lower Pigeon River trip! This is a more leisurely float trip that features a little less speed, making it very popular with families! However, kids are also permitted on our Upper River Rafting trip that takes you on an exciting ride through class 3 and 4 rapids! For this particular trip, the minimum age/weight requirement is just 8 years old or 70 pounds.

3. Trips Go Out Rain or Shine

We don’t let any rainy weather ruin our fun! Rainy days are actually some of the best days on the river because getting wet is all part of the experience! Of course, we may delay trips for a few minutes if we need to allow a strong storm to pass. If you’re joining us during the summer, you’ll want to wear a bathing suit, t-shirt and secure fitting shoes. For those coming out in the spring or fall when it’s a bit cooler, wear synthetic, quick-drying layers and wool or fleece socks!

4. Rafting Rates are Incredibly Affordable

If you are planning to go rafting with a group of 10 people or more, you can take advantage of special group rates, a dedicated sales staff and other perks! We also have special white water rafting combo packages that combine rafting with ziplining!

5. We Offer Extreme Rafting Trips for Thrillseekers

In addition to our Upper and Lower River Rafting Trips, we offer an Extreme Upper River Rafting Trip for thrillseekers craving the ultimate rush! During this excursion, we push the limits by hitting the meat of big waves and surfing all of our favorite waves and hydraulics! These trips feature a smaller raft with a maximum of 3 rafters and a guide, and all rafters must be at least 12 years old and be able to swim. They are available May through September.
