So, you are interested in becoming a professional raft guide? What is it about being a raft guide that interests you? Have you been rafting before and thought it would be a fun summer job? Do you love the outdoors and meeting new people? All are good reasons why, but what is it like to be a raft guide?
Being a raft guide is a hard, demanding but rewarding job. You must be outgoing, self-motivated and a team player. You won’t pay off your student loans over the course of the summer but you will have fun, work hard, make new friends and learn new skills that can take you to exciting places – all while making a good summer wage.
Our spring training is just around the corner, and we are looking forward to a very busy summer. Every season, we have an increasingly large number of applicants with only limited positions available. Applying to one of our guide schools is the first step to becoming a raft guide and acquiring a full-time position as a guide at Smoky Mountain Outdoors.
Please read the PDF file found at this link; the PDF should answer most questions you have pertaining to guide training.
Along with the application, cover letter and résumé, many applicants choose to send a few photos of themselves to show their personality, interests, and hobbies.
I look forward to hearing from you.
