Creek near Great Smoky Mountains during fall
September 13, 2017

Summer is coming to a close and temperatures are cooling down which means it is almost time for fall break. At Smoky Mountain Outdoors, we are transitioning from “massive rapids” type trips to natural flow trips down the river. It’s an experience that everyone should try at least once in their lives. These natural flow trips are based on the water levels, but they’re still fun if you’re looking for whitewater rafting near Gatlinburg during fall break.

A hiking trail in the Smoky Mountains covered in fall leaves.1. Watch the Leaves Change

As you are sailing down the river gorge, you can look at the amazing fall scenery. The leaves will be changing from green to orange, yellow, and brown. While you are whitewater rafting near Gatlinburg you’ll have the chance to see gorgeous views from a unique perspective. Many people come to the Smokies to watch the leaves change, but on a natural flow trip you’ll have a front row seat. You can tell your friends that you got to experience fall on a whole new level.

2. Cooler Temperatures

The temperatures are dropping to a comfortable level which will make rafting a much more enjoyable experience for your friends and family. You won’t have to worry about sweating buckets in the fall. Temperatures in the fall are great because it isn’t as hot as summer or as cold as winter. It’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors before it becomes time to break out the sweaters.

3. Peaceful Experience

Listen to the water hitting the rocks as it flows down the stream. Natural flow trips are a peaceful experience that will help you relax while taking in the gorgeous mountain views. Water levels can be unpredictable, but there will always be enough water so you can float on down the river. Our experienced river guides will help navigate you through the best waves, so you can have the greatest experience possible while you’re on fall break. Just kick back and enjoy the ride because we’ll handle the rest.

4. Less Crowds A happy family experiencing the best white water rafting in Gatlinburg TN.

The crowds of summer have vanished, and now is the perfect time to go whitewater rafting near Gatlinburg. You can book your reservation with ease knowing you won’t have to beat any crowds. You can invite your friends and family to come join your natural flow adventure, too. We take multiple rafts down the river, so invite everyone to come along! The Pigeon River is a great place to get a taste of the outdoors. It’s an experience that’ll make this fall break the best one yet.

We plan to raft on natural flow trips from September 5 through October 14, but this can change based on water levels. On a natural flow trip you can experience class III – IV whitewater, or you may enjoy a leisurely trip down the river, either way you’ll have a great time.
