Whether you are joining us for a thrilling raft trip down class 3 and 4 rapids of the Upper Pigeon River or a more leisurely float trip on the Lower Pigeon River, you will love your experience on this unique waterway! Pigeon River offers some of the best rafting experiences in the Smokies. Here are the top 4 reasons why the Pigeon River is perfect for white water rafting in the Smoky Mountains:

1. Ideal Water Flow

Rafts floating down the Pigeon River. The natural flow of the Pigeon River makes it ideal for white water rafting, so don’t miss one of our fall or spring trips! Since the water levels are less predictable during this time of year, you may experience anything from a calm trip down the river to level 3 and 4 rapids! During our natural flow trips, we may alter the number of guests per raft and make other adjustments to provide the best overall experience. Of course, the summer is also a fabulous time to raft on the Pigeon River due to the warm weather conditions and guaranteed water releases from the Walters Dam!

2. Spectacular Scenery

Another reason why the Pigeon River is perfect for white water rafting in the Smoky Mountains is because it flows through some of the most beautiful scenery in the United States! While you can enjoy the natural beauty of the area while hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, there is nothing quite like the view you will experience from the river! During our white water rafting excursions, you will spend anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours on the river. This provides plenty of time to admire the mountain views, and you might even get lucky enough to spot some wildlife along the riverbanks!

3. Close to Gatlinburg
