What to Bring For Pigeon Forge Whitewater Rafting Adventure

July 16, 2013 January 17th, 2023

At Smoky Mountain Outdoors, safety is our number one priority. All of our guides go through a rigorous training and certification program, and we only use the highest quality safety equipment. When guests arrive for their Pigeon Forge whitewater adventure, we want them to know that they are in good hands. With that in mind, there are a few tips on what to wear and what to bring for an exciting day on the Little Pigeon River.

What to Wear

Smoky Mountain Outdoors provides guests with the life jacket and helmet they will need, but we do suggest that guests try to avoid wearing bathing suits, flip flops and heavy cotton clothes while on the Little Pigeon River. Bathing suits are slippery, and may cause difficulty in the off-chance that guests find themselves in the water. Flip flops can be lost easily during the adventure. We suggest that if guests do prefer to wear an open toe shoe that they have a heel strap. Also, heavy cotton clothes do not dry quickly, and we want to make sure guests are enjoying the most out of their Pigeon Forge whitewater adventure.

We do encourage guests to wear water shorts and light weight tank tops, synthetic fabrics are best. Water shoes, tennis shoes or hiking sandals are also appropriate attire for the rapids. Also, if guests choose to bring sunglasses we do encourage them to use ones with plastic lenses and a strap. If guests want to shade their eyes from the sun, Smoky Mountain Outdoors suggests wearing a baseball cap or visor.

What to Bring

The biggest suggestion we have for guests is to bring an extra set of clothes to change into after conquering the rapids on the Little Pigeon River. A towel, sunblock and lip balm are also important items that families will want in order to get the most out of their whitewater rafting experience. Waterproof cameras and dry bags are also best for guests to protect their valuables while on the Little Pigeon River.

Above all else, we at Smoky Mountain Outdoors want to ensure that each of our whitewater adventure guests have fun, and take home exciting memories of their time spend on the Little Pigeon River.
