You might be surprised to know the fall season is actually one of the best times of year to join us for a river rafting adventure! Although our season may be winding down, this is an excellent opportunity to experience a scenic rafting trip and take in the sights of the fall foliage! We’re offering rafting trips until October 17. Here are the top 4 reasons to experience rafting in the Smoky Mountains this fall:

1. Scenic Natural Flow Trips

One of the unique aspects of rafting in the Smoky Mountains during the fall is all of our excursions are natural flow trips on the upper section of the Pigeon River! What’s fun about these trips is they are unpredictable because water levels can vary during this time of year. During this 6.5-mile journey with your certified guide, you can experience a unique and scenic journey on the Pigeon River.

2. Gorgeous Fall Foliage

Many folks travel to the Smoky Mountains each fall to enjoy the autumn leaf season, where stunning fall colors slowly move down the mountain sides from higher to lower elevations. The gorgeous fall foliage just adds another wonderful aspect to our rafting trips, where the scenery is already amazing at any time of year! You will generally get to see the fall colors develop at the highest elevations from early to mid-October, but sometimes they develop early at lower elevations too!

3. Best Rates of the Year

Another reason why you need to experience rafting in the Smoky Mountains this fall is because this is when we offer some of our best rates of the year. While we are pleased to offer excellent rates for river rafting all year long, you will find our fall trips are an incredible bargain! Plus, if you book now, you’ll save $12 on your rafting adventure. You will have more money to spend on your vacation to the Smokies, or you might want to pick up a SMO Rafting t-shirt to commemorate your time on the river!

4. Comfortable Weather Conditions

Autumn offers some of the most comfortable weather conditions in the Smokies, with crisp mountain air that feels great in your lungs! This fabulous fall weather just makes you want to be outside in the mountains, and there is no better way to experience this magical season than on the river with us! For your optimal comfort, we recommend you wear synthetic and quick drying layers during our fall trips. While cotton may feel comfortable, it holds water and draws your body heat, so try to avoid cotton clothes! You may also want to wear wool or fleece socks on the cooler days to keep warm.
