Rafting on the lower Pigeon River is one of the best attractions in the Smoky Mountains! It’s a 5 1/2 mile trip through the scenic Pigeon River gorge.

This adventure begins at the outpost and ends at the Denton Bridge. From there, we bus you back up to the outpost. Water fights and splashing are very popular on the lower Pigeon River. People of all ages love it! So, if you’re looking for something with a little less speed, this rafting trip on the Pigeon River is for you.

How long will I spend on the river? Approx. 1 – 1.5 hours. Please note: Trip time may vary with water levels and natural conditions.
Who can go on this trip? All rafters must be at least 3 years of age and accompanied by an adult.
Do I have to make a reservation? Strongly recommended!

What’s included in the Lower River Rafting trip?

Here are some of the things you can expect to experience when you go on one of our Lower River Rafting trips:

Trip Format

Rafters are asked to arrive at the outpost 45 minutes prior to their scheduled trip time. The put-in location is at the outpost, where you’ll then paddle 5 miles downstream. After your adventure is over, our bus picks you up and brings you back to the outpost. This trip is great for families with kids!

Professional Guide

We have a professional guide accompany you on your trip so the only thing you have to focus on is having fun! The guide is there to help keep you safe and guarantee you have a great time. Our guides will share information about the area, tell jokes, and calm any nerves you have about rafting. Each of our guides has completed a training program that includes at least 15–20 trips down the river, and is First-Aid Certified.
