All Trips are Fully Guided

All of our guides have completed a rigorous training program with at least 15 to 20 trips down the river, and each guide is certified in Standard First Aid. All rafts are equipped with a waterproof first aid kit in the unlikely event that there are any incidents on the river. Our guides will navigate your raft throughout the duration of your trip, sharing their passion for splashing through waves and enjoying the beauty of the great outdoors!

Swimming Skills Not Required

It is not even necessary to know how to swim when white water rafting with Smoky Mountain Outdoors! Every guest is issued a type 5 personal flotation device that has been approved by the Coast Guard. This lifejacket is specifically designed to provide all of the flotation that you would need on the river in case of an emergency. If you do not know how to swim, don’t let that keep you from signing up for our amazing excursions of white water rafting near Smoky Mountains National Park!

Our white water rafting adventures are applicable for nearly everyone from kids to adults! Children who are at least 8 years old or 70 pounds can go on our Upper Pigeon rafting trip, while children at least 3 years of age can go on our Lower Pigeon trip. For adults, there are no upper weight limit requirements for our trips so need to worry if you are a bit overweight. Of course, we don’t recommend rafting for women who are more than two months pregnant. Otherwise, the white water rafting trips at Smoky Mountain Outdoors are something virtually everyone can enjoy!
